Libby / Overdrive Authentication Update

We’re updating the sign-in process for Libby and OverDrive to enhance your account security and better protect personal information.

Here’s what you need to know about the change.

New sign-in process

From Wednesday 16 September 2026, you’ll be required to sign in to Libby and the OverDrive website using both your library barcode and PIN/password.

This means that your account may be logged out the next time you open Libby or OverDrive, and you will need to log back in.

Libby/Overdrive content not available in your Account Portal

As a result of these changes:

  • OverDrive and Libby content will temporarily be unavailable to view in your Auckland Libraries account portal.

  • You will also no longer be able to borrow OverDrive titles or place holds on OverDrive content through your Account Portal.

To manage your loans and holds, please use the Libby app or OverDrive website directly or the Auckland Libraries app.

We appreciate your patience as we work with the vendor to resolve this and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
