Re-opening update

We are pleased to announce that St Heliers Library will re-open in its original location on Tuesday 15 August 2023 at 10am.

The temporary library location at Tāmaki Ex-Services Association Hall will close from Sunday 6 August at 4pm. 

While both locations are closed (7-14 August 2023), you can access library services nearby in Glen InnesPanmure and Remuera or at any of our other library locations

21 July 2022 announcement 

From 1 August 2022, St Heliers Library is undergoing works for earthquake strengthening, a new roof and internal refurbishment.

While these works are underway, most library services are available at Tāmaki Ex-Services Association Hall on the corner of Polygon Road and Turua Street, St Heliers.

Temporary location operating hours and services

Tāmaki Ex-Services Association Hall exterior

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 9am - 6pm
  • Saturday, 9am - 4pm
  • Sunday, 12noon - 4pm

Services include:

  • Request pick-up
  • Book returns
  • A small collection to browse
  • Photocopying, printing and free WiFi
  • Storytimes for kids – 10am each Monday

We will also be conducting library programmes from the Presbyterian Church Community Centre at 100 St Heliers Bay Road, just up the hill from the library.

Programmes include:

  • Wriggle and Rhyme – Wednesdays and Fridays, 9.30am and 11am
  • Ukulele for kids – Fridays, 3.30pm and 4.30pm
  • Book groups

The closest libraries with full collections to browse are Glen Innes, Panmure and Remuera.
